CAKE SMASH Preparation Guide
A cake smash session is such a fun way to celebrate your child’s important milestone!
What to expect
If you selected Silver or Gold packages, your session starts with a family portrait and siblings shot (if applicable). Then we proceed with pictures of your baby alone and “O.N.E” collage, followed by the cake smash itself. That’s when the fun part starts!
It’s also possible to add a bubble bath after the cake smash at an extra cost.
Location A cake smash session takes place at my home studio in Candiac or outdoors (summertime only).
Decorations I have a large selection of decorative items for any type of cake smash! Please feel free to check my portfolio for ideas. If you have a theme or idea in mind, that is not presented in my portfolio, that’s great! (I like challenges!) Just give me a heads up so we can discuss and work on a setup together!
Outfits I have a selection of cake smash outfits and tutu skirts for the girls at your disposal. Please feel free to bring an extra outfit for a family picture.
Cake A cake is not included in the price. I can order a baby friendly cake with my baker at an extra charge or please feel free to bring your own.
Duration A cake smash session lasts between 25 and 60 min. I never end my sessions just because the time is over. I stop a session when a child has had enough:) or if we got plenty of gorgeous shots.
Tips and tricks:
• Based on my experience, it is preferable to schedule your baby's cake smash session before your 1-year vaccine.
• I recommend having a cake smash session first thing in the morning. You never know how an afternoon nap goes and what mood the baby wakes up in. We don't want to take chances.
• When ordering a cake, let your baker know it's for a cake smash, so they avoid using strong colorants that do not wash off. Light colors work best for the cake itself because dark smears on your baby's face are fun but don't look pretty in the pictures.
• Some kids dig in to the cake right away, others need some initial encouragement. Yes, some babies do not enjoy getting their hands dirty or they might not like the taste of the cake. Be prepared to get your hands dirty and dig into that frosting too. Baby puffs can be very helpful as well. Be reassured we will have fun anyway!!!
A cake smash session preparation check list will be provided to you prior to your session.
